Why the standard travels
A hospital doesn’t grade you on how the lobby looks at 8 a.m.
It grades you on whether the door push plate was disinfected, whether the mop water was changed between rooms, whether the cart was restocked, and whether the person doing it was trained to handle what they might find. Nobody sees any of that. It gets checked anyway.
Most office cleaning is graded on appearance. Healthcare cleaning is graded on procedure — because in a clinic, the difference between a surface that looks clean and a surface that is clean has consequences. We were trained on the second standard, and we don’t keep two sets of habits.
